My name is dehn al Oud…
What you seek is seeking you
– Rumi
Over the next 8 weeks we will be exploring Oud wood and oil. Not the synthetics that are now a staple of mainstream perfumery; this series will go to the source of the oil itself.
This is the intro post to the weekly series which is on Fragrantica.
Fasten your web-belts let’s go web-travelling…
The series starts here: My name is dehn al Oud

I was at a friend’s house the other day and he had a book of Rumi poems that I thought at first looked a bit annoyingly…..something. A bit ‘spiritual self helpy’ for me, I imagined. Not so: every single thing I read was amazing. Profound but also mirrored, puzzle like, genuinely probing.
I look forward to your oud series.
I know what you mean. The English titles usually do give that impression. Rumi was a sensualist who is best absorbed in small and contemplative doses. Even in translation he packs entire world-views into a sentence or two. You should have seen him dance.
I didn’t know you were that old.
Timeless but still working on the elegance, lol.
Sitting, waiting for the journey into “oud” to begin, hooked on the story already!
Ha, this is one is weekly. Happy sitting! Maybe you could quilt up a tree? I am thrilled that you are coming on this journey Lee. I have pitched a project that we can do together for this series. Waiting on a Board decision and possible bee harmonics.
Wonderful start to this new series – I wait with breath awaited for the next installment!
Writing it as up we speak Sally. Great to have you breathing the same air on this fragrant road. Where will we end up? There will be jungles, scoundrels and tigers or is that Katy Perry that I can hear roaring?
Thank you for this extremely brilliant blog about dehnul qud attar. I was looking for this kind of information for such a long time and I am more than happy to see such a great blog .
