Part 3 – the story continues below

It’s Valentines Day, and for many, that means giving the gift of roses – the sight and smell of which invokes feelings of care and tenderness in the hearts of lovers everywhere.

For the very latest and greatest on roses have a wander along these pathways, enter these doorways, and see through these windows. It’s quite a view. After you have ambled a while amongst endless subjectivity, beautifully presented facts and well formed opinions you still have to make your own mind up. The only way to do that is to smell…

If you want love from your perfume, then explore niche perfumery. Of course there are wacky and weird niche perfumes and poorly composed ones. But while everyone else is deciding whether perfume making is art, artisanal, design and manufacturing, or even molecular architecture, the niche perfumer continues to imagine a scent and then pours creativity into bottle after bottle after making a stream of loving and erudite choices.

Will you stroll with me into 2024?

It’s Valentines Day and I have a neo-perfume, called Futuristic Lover to present to my one untrue love.

The ingredients of Futuristic Lover are:

– A radiant synthetic rose accord from Lucas in Poland for consistency of scent as well as shimmer and shine
– Clayton’s New Zealand ambergris tincture as a fixative and extender. This will amplify the rose accord.
– The Quantum Unicorn Accord from Luca Turin for magic realism
– Afghan Rose oil via Barb in Canada from the 2013 harvest to give the fragrance a noble soul

The molecules have been weighted down tightly so that they enter the ether as slowly as possible. The top note is the heart note is the base note. This is almost a soliflore juice in the linear style but it is enchanced with a sheer iris glow.

I meet my untrue love at the Wintergarden in the Auckland Domain beneath The Statue of The Holder of the Rose. I offer the gift.

Will my untrue love turn true?

A spritz, a spray, a turn away
A step, a prance, a backwards glance
A pause, a twirl, a dervish whirl
Into my arms
My lover melts and whispers ‘more’

I want to see you.

Know your voice.

Recognise you when you
first come ’round the corner.

Sense your scent when I come
into a room you’ve just left.

Know the lift of your heel,
the glide of your foot.

Become familiar with the way
you purse your lips
then let them part,
just the slightest bit,
when I lean into your space
and kiss you.

I want to know the joy
of how you whisper
‘more’
― Rumi

So more it is
More love, more true
That’s what perfume
Can do for you

Futuristic Lover by Łukasz Szcześniak and Clayton Ilolahia is available wherever you may be in 2024.

The End The Beginning

Meanwhile back in 2013, Happy Valentines Day to you.

If you are not feeling love today then I have a message for you.

Love is…

on the way

Here are a couple of love highlights to get you through the rest of this day.

Puff Johnson sings that

Love is…

Forever More.

One of the most well known passages on love has been given a modern translation by Eugene Peterson.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
-1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – The Message

I’m breathing love today
and I hope you keep breathing
that you keep keep breathing love.
