Guest Post by Brie in New York
We entertain lofty visions of newfound equanimity, of a harmonious balance between our inner lives and our outer reality. Unfortunately most of us spend our days in something short of that. Raising children, loving partners, sitting in traffic or spilling orange juice on the good suit. We must constantly adjust our ideal in order to accomodate real life.

My father used to chide me that I came out of my mother’s womb with the most serious countenance he had ever seen. Those who knew me in my youth would have described me as a quiet, reserved and serious perfectionist. In fact, I was once accused of having no sense of humour whatsoever.
Then came a fortuitous event in my life-the birth of my third child. At some point in time I realised that in order to maintain my sanity I needed to abandon my perfectionistic attitude, embrace the chaos and live my life in the “now” moments. Laughing at all the mishaps, ironies and mess-ups that is life as I know it has become my modus operandi ever since.
When I first sniffed Atelier’s Orange Sanguine my immediate reaction was “This is pure liquid laughter in a bottle!” A bright and refreshing orange peel citrus that segues into creamy smoothness with a woody and tart orange kick in the drydown.
Notes: Blood orange, bitter orange, jasmine, geranium, amber woods, tonka beans, sandalwood
Above all else enjoying the laughter, even at my own expense, has been the best remedy for my sometimes stressful life.
As a Hopi elder once said ” We are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves.”
Please join me for a hearty chuckle tonight as I offer up a small sample of Atelier’s Orange Sanguine. Just leave a comment as to who or what makes you laugh. Winner announced June month end.

I agree. There’s something so cheerful about this fragrance. And it has a laid back attitude like “I’ll deal with it tomorrow”. I need more of that in my life 🙂
*Please do not enter me into your generous draw. I have a bottle 🙂
Hi Victoria!
Welcome to the Fragrant Man! Indeed, Orange Sanguine is a “laid back” fragrance….and I need as much of that attitude in my life as well!
Thanks for stopping by!
Like you, Brie, I have tended toward the serious side as far as my personality. But I am learning to laugh at myself, and finding a good amount of material as I look 🙂
I beg to differ….with regard to the “amount of material”….you have a lovely sense of humour and I enjoy sharing it with you :D!
I’m glad. Thank you, dear friend.

I love a hearty chuckle Brie!
Me too…Suzanne! and let’s add some citrus essential oils to the mix!
I have strong British genes. Most things make me laugh. There is humour in almost everything. Black or otherwise. Bussis. CQ
Val-
Our correspondence ALWAYS has me laughing…your sense of humour “takes the cookie”!!
Big Bang Theory makes me laugh. Out loud. With all my heart. 🙂
I absolutely love that series.
Hi Ines!
You share something with my teenage daughters…Big Bang is their absolute favorite show!
I had a similar epiphany when I got married and had 3 dogs. I realized I could spend every waking hour picking up after them or I could allow myself to overlook a little mess sometimes. Life’s too short to spend it behind a vacuum cleaner, right? I try to find humor anywhere I can but Stanley the poodle usually helps give me a daily dose of laughter. He’s insane.
Poodle,
Your house sounds exactly as mine…three crazy “kids” running the show!
The rain has been pouring like a waterfall all day. I could use some liquid laughter or sunshine for that matter…
Amer,
I am sending honey drenched rays of orange sunshine to you with love, my friend!
Just received them, thanks! Can I send some of the pouring rain to you? Because I got plenty! The weather is going crazy here!
I was just lamenting my perfectionism the other day. Alas, I still can’t shrug it off or how crazy it makes me, but I do try to find laughter in small moments. It’s not working very well. The other day, a friend wrote to me that I make Type-A personalities look comatose. LOL.
As for the perfume, no need to enter me in a draw. I actually have a sample and am going to review it (and perhaps the Malle Bigarade Concentrée) later this week. I could do with some liquid laughter in a bottle! 🙂
Kafka,
Believe it or not I see you as one of the funniest people I know…..dry humour suits me best!
I enjoy this perfume on my vSO (so no need entering me into the giveaway – but thank you for the draw). And I agree that it’s very light-spirited.
I smile and chuckle often enough (including from reading perfume posts) but I can’t think of something that made me actually laugh last. It bothers me 🙂
Undina,
Your post on “laughs, lemmins and loves” gets a great big rise out of me….and you will surely find something to chuckle about soon :D!!
Any Billy Wilder comedy. . .
perfect :D!!
I love this fragrance and love your wit…and that pic…absolutely delightful my dear!
Thank you so very much Mr. Hound …..it has taken me a long time to get to the point where I can actually make fun of myself in such a public forum as the world wide web :D!!!
oh…an no need to enter me in the contest!
Oh and just so you know that is an anti-aging mask (sent to me by my good friend Daisy) that I am sporting in that photo you are enjoying 😉 !
I’m sure you don’t need an anti-aging mask my dear Brie, but cleansing ones pores is always a good thing!
Thank you Mr. Hound! (you are good for my ego :D!!!!)
Wonderful post, Brie! Love the mask 🙂 I didn’t know it was green! How did it feel?
No need to enter me in the draw. I have my own fb 🙂
Made me feel like I was twenty years younger :D!!
You’re beautiful, Brie!
