A passionate love story was the inspiration for Jacques Guerlain’s oft-iterated perfume Shalimar…
The Guerlain movie The Legend of Shalimar, directed by Bruni Aveillan and starring Natalia Vodianova will be released August 28, 2013 on a screen right in front of you.
Is this release a movie-movie, a mini-movie or as Persolaise eloquently tweeted (in reference to a billboard in France which appeared yesterday) “an advert for a perfume advert”?
Only in France would you find an advert for a perfume advert.
This legend has extremely high production values and the quality to match. I love a love story, don’t you too?
Which is your favourite Shalimar?
And do you douse or bathe?

Shalimar Parfum Initial is a beautiful scent to me, I prefer it over the original Shalimar. Also it’s surprising how alike Parfum Initial smells to Coromandel (Chanel) 🙂
That is a surprise! Thank you for zoomin’ in Melinda.
I have a big 750ml bottle of the EDC that my godmother gave me. I loved it from the time I was a kid and was beyond happy when she gave it to me. It still has a decent amount of juice in it too. So I guess for sentimental reasons I’d have to say the EDC is my favorite. When I do wear it I generously dab. I probably should transfer some to an atomizer one of these days.
It’s a dabber! What a fairy godmother you have. Are you a godmother yourself? What would you pass on to your godchildren?
Assuming nothing bad happens to it, my goddaughter will be getting that bottle someday too. Of course it might not have anything left in it. 😉
That will still be a vintage gift with or without the vintage juice. Very nice Poodle.
I honestly don’t remember which one it was, but I remember loving it!
Lol; there are many many versions.
Now, how am I not surprised? 🙂
I’m a foreigner on this celebration: I do not like Shalimar and I haven’t found a version to work for me.
Well, with all those iterations I suspect you will have to look elsewhere for satisfaction Undina. Just as well there are other options to explore. And I know you to be an explorer par excellence. Waft on.
I wear the EDP of the original although I have also liked some of these seasonal versions that have been coming out, which explore vanillas from different regions of the world.
Mr Shalimar! Are there more Odes to come Clayton?
I haven’t heard Jordan but I don’t get all the hot-off-the-press Guerlain News like blogger, Monsieur Guerlain. I hope so. I love the concept of making a different perfume based on a perfumer’s travels around the world looking for rare or unusual harvests.
